FIRMArm Specification
The Flexible Interchangeable Reconfigurable Mechanical Arm (FIRMArm) is a modular equipment deployment device to deliver payloads of up to 18kg to locations that currently cannot be accessed or more accurately and repeatably reach difficult to access areas. The FIRMArm has been designed for the nuclear decommissioning industry but has a wide scope of uses, The arm itself has a ø50mm hole at its centre for routing cables and tubing, it attaches end effectors that can be tailored to customer requirements, i.e. Inspection Cameras, Radiation Sensors, 3D Scanners, Remote Sealing with Molten Metal, Waterjet, Swabbing/sampling etc Designed to access a facility through a ø150mm port. It has a range of up to 10m from the entry point. The arm has a wide range of motion once deployed into a facility. The deployment rig and arm break down into modular sub-assemblies which are less than 20kg and is quickly/easily assembled, even when wearing full protective clothing.
