What a fantastic week for the FIRMArm project, supported by Sellafield, Sellafield Gamechangers, National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) & FIS360.
Everyone at FIRMA Engineering was thrilled to take part in the successful deployment of the FIRMA Engineering FIRMArm at Sellafield last week. This is a significant step in the acceleration of cost-effective nuclear decommissioning.
After weeks of preparation the FIRMArm was deployed into an active nuclear cell on the Sellafield Site. FIRMA Engineers were present to observe and oversee the successful installation of the rig and the deployment of the FIRMArm.
This deployment realized the simultaneous live acquisition video and gamma radiation data, giving Sellafield experts an insight into the Cell condition and thus aid with the planning of Post Operational Clean Out (POCO)
This celebrates a major milestone in the development of its FIRMArm technology and paves the way to future development of this Flexible Interchangeable Reconfigurable Mechanical Arm.
FIRMA Engineering is looking forward to the FIRMArm being a key part of the decommissioning tool kit within the nuclear estate.
